CHATEAU ORMES DE PEZ
This estate is located in the hamlet of Pez, the old French word for ‘peace’. At one time, the château also had very old elm trees (‘ormes’ in French) dating back to the 18th Century. Marie Cazes married the owner of Ormes-de-Pez in the late 19th Century, and when widowed, in fine French tradition she took on the task of managing the estate.
The property was purchased just before WWII by Marie’s brother, Jean-Charles, then owner of Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac. The Cazes family's link with this exceptional cru thus goes back more than a century. Ormes-de Pez produce dependably fine wines year after year, and much investment has been made in the facilities since the early 1980s, as part of an ambitious renovation programme.
